About
I am Jane Mills Harding, a professional historian with over 30 years’ experience delivering local history and heritage services and projects.
I believe everyone and everything has a story to tell and there’s nothing I love more than digging into the archives and other historical sources to discover these tales of the past, unravel a mystery, or dispense with a myth.
I am skilled in historical research and writing, oral history interviewing, and digital history. For 20 years, I was the Heritage Librarian and Heritage Coordinator at Noosa Council and coordinated a wide range of projects including published books, exhibitions, events, talks and workshops, and heritage studies. I also have experience managing archival collections.
I am quite chuffed to have won a couple of awards for my work: a GAMAA Finalist for Individual Achievement in 2018 and a joint winner of a National Trust of Australia (Queensland) Silver Award (for the book Noosa Remembers), also in 2018.
I have been accredited as a professional historian by the Professional Historians Association (Queensland) and hold qualifications in history, librarianship and communications.
I live on the Sunshine Coast (Queensland) but am available to undertake projects anywhere.
You can explore some of my past projects here or read about my forays into my own family history at The Janeologist.
